Simplicity

“Simplicity” is a short movie about Skiing and Snowboarding around our home mountains near Innsbruck. It is a movie produced by myself and Simon Abt. We filmed each other throughout the season while doing what we love, driven by the weather and snow forecast. Not only the perfect powder days are fun. Riding the slope can be pretty amazing and challenging. For us skiing and snowboarding has a rhythm. Its lead by various factors. Visual, sensational, physical factors that make these sports unique and special. Factors that play into getting a flow state of mind. This piece is not a normal “Skimovie”. It is more an attempt of trying to put into words and into some kind of art form how it feels to ski and snowboard even on normal days.

About Lena :

I am a professional freeskier and over the past few years, after competing on an international level in Slopestyle skiing for over 5 years, i´ve been more and more involved into movie productions and photoshoots as an athlete skiing and sometimes also surfing. Traveling to those stunning places on earth to experience them through my sport showed me my passion for photography and cinematography. So bringing this passion in, i am starting to produce more and more project myself. Realizing those projects always with a small crew is a challenge but also has a lot of advantages. These are projects very close to my heart.. I want to show people how beautiful and important nature is. Inspire them to look closely and embrace it.

About Simon Abt: I am skier and snowboarder by passion. My real job is working as an anesthesiologist and intensivist during these rather difficult times. I’ve been skiing my whole life and have been involved in a lot of cool projects and experiences out in the mountains. These last years I’ve also been getting into snowboarding quite a lot which gives me this sensational feeling of flow and rhythm. This feeling is what I would love to express within this project.

Directors Statement :

“Simplicity” hopefully inspires to love nature and love skiing and snowboarding and that it is for everybody to enjoy. It doesn’t need much to be something really fun, social and engaging.
